ian dickinson guitars

Stand alone website for my guitars will be coming soon. In the meantime here are some previous builds.

Construction of new orders would begin in Spring 2023

Small jumbo cutaway

A classic combination of Englemann spruce and east indian rosewood in one of my favourite shapes, the small jumbo. With a wide lower bout and pinched waist this a very comfortable size to sit with and coupled with a 16 foot radius back allows a slightly slimmer depth at the sides whilst delivering a great low end performance.

Cocobolo Parlour

A little powerhouse with Englemann spruce top paired with some stunning Cocobolo back and sides. This guitar was made to be small in size and big in sound. Rigid double sides with an internal set of sycamore and enlarged soundhole allowed the typically crisp coco sound to punch out.

GS 3/4

Small bodied and short scaled at 600mm. Pretty much a pocket version of the small jumbo with indian rosewood back and sides with an englemann spruce top. Body depth fitting for the smaller overall size with the 16 foot radius back allowing some extra depth to maintain the bass response. The first commission after flying solo in the shop so this one will always be a special one.

Black OO

Modelled on the iconic “johnny cash” OO-14 in style and built for power. Honduran mahogany back and sides, englemann spruce top with slotted headstock and the clients own design on the headstock. Loaded with an LR Baggs i-beam pickup.

Bobby Koa

Modelled on the legendary Robert Johnson L0 in master grade flamed hawaiain koa for the top back and sides. Its hard to put into words or capture on film just how stunning this timber becomes as the build progresses. The cross silking across the grain cause the light to reflect at different angles creating an almost holographic effect. Mind blowing
